MERCER EVENTS & PROGRAMS

THANK YOU!
Thank you Mercer students and families for your support of Penny Wars!  Due to your generosity, we were able to donate over $3,100 to 9United's Shop & Share event and provide Christmas to 60 children in need in our community!

Since we met our goal, students will have the opportunity to watch an age-appropriate holiday movie and wear pj's to school one day. In addition, the fourth graders will get a pancake breakfast to celebrate being the Penny Wars winners for the second year in a row.

Buffalo Wild Wings Dine Out Night

Mercer's next dine out night is December 12, 2019, from 11AM to 11:30PM.

Please be sure to print and present your ticket so that 10% of your bill gets donated to the Mercer PTA!

EAGLE COUNCIL REMINDER:  The Eagle Council Holiday Party will be held on Friday, December 13th. The meeting will begin at 8:15 AM due to yearbook pictures being taken and Kroger glazed donuts being served. In addition, there will be an optional gift exchange. If your child is interested in participating, they will need a wrapped $5.00 gift or gift card - clearly marked whether it is for a boy, girl or either.

Calling all dads and father figures!

Please join us for our December All Pro Dad breakfast in the Mercer cafeteria at 8:20 AM on Wednesday, December 18th. We will have a light breakfast for you and your kiddo/s as well as some great character-building content. Please RSVP here.

NEWS TO NOTE

2019-2020 Mercer Yearbook Sales

The theme for the 2019-2020 yearbook is “Better Together.”  Yearbooks cost $16 each for a 104-page hardcover, color yearbook.  Donations are very much appreciated. All donations go directly towards purchasing yearbooks for students.  Please go to the Jostens website to purchase your Mercer Yearbook.  If you would prefer to send in your order with a cash or check payment, click here for the order form. Jostens is not able to track duplicate orders, so please keep your email receipt.

This year we are also accepting business donations, and business donors will be recognized in the yearbook.  If you own a local business and would like to make a donation to the Mercer Yearbook, please see attached.

SHARE YOUR PICTURES FOR THE YEARBOOK:  Parents, if you have pictures from Mercer activities this year and would like to share them for the 2019-2020 Mercer Yearbook, please use these instructions to access the Mercer Elementary School Private Photo Submission site.  Pictures will be accepted on this site through March 15th, 2020.  Any questions, contact Diana Ellis, kbedde@mac.com

Classroom Party Reimbursement

If you are purchasing any items for class parties, please be sure to turn in the reimbursement form, which can be found on the PTA website, and send receipts to Sean Lyons, PTA Treasurer. Reimbursement forms may be left in the Treasurer's mailbox in Mercer's office or emailed to Sean. If you have any questions, please contact Bridget Wright.

Thanks to all who participated in McAlister's Dine Out Night. We received a check for $185.05 for Mercer!

If the lights are flashing, don’t try passing!

In the state of Ohio, drivers must stop when traveling from either direction until the children are safely off the street and the school bus lights stop flashing. The driver must stop at least ten feet from the front or rear of the school bus.

  • Yellow flashing lights indicate the bus is preparing to stop to load or unload children. Motorists should slow down and prepare to stop their vehicles.
  • Red flashing lights and extended stop arms indicate the bus has stopped and children are getting on or off. Motorists must stop their cars and wait until the red lights stop flashing, the extended stop-arm is withdrawn, and the bus begins moving before they can start driving again.

By law, motorists must stop in both directions for a school bus on a two-lane, or two-lane-with-turning-lane road. According to Ohio traffic laws, motorists can receive up to a $500 fine and possible suspended license for up to a year for failure to stop. This does not apply to highways with four or more lanes or divided highways. Please share the road. For additional tips and reminders, visit the National Safety Council here
